Food Recall

Food Recall was my personal side hustle which had around 700 active and 20 paying users within 1 month of being available in the Apple AppStore.

It allowed users to get notifications of recalled food items in return of a small monthly fee. Furthermore there was the ability to automatically translate the recalls into different languages and scan receipts for recalled items. I used an open government websites rss feed to scrape the data and fill my own database. Every day notifications were sent via cron job to notify subscribing users.
